I'm calling out
supernovae

for romanticizing
self-destructive behavior.

I think stars are sending
a really bad message

by dramatically dying
in a blaze of glory

that briefly outshines
their entire galaxy

and flings
rare and valuable debris
across the universe,

leaving everyone wondering
what happened.

It's a fairly extreme example
of bottling up the harmful byproducts of what you do,
until you run out of leeway
and explode all at once.
